The Produce Pantry
Purpose-built storage becomes part of the room’s visual rhythm.

Blush cabinetry, a dark worktop, pale timber flooring, brass mesh, and open produce drawers make food storage feel bright, legible, and intentional.
Full Design Considerations
Design intent
Make ventilation, visibility, and comfortable drawer operation part of the design rather than hiding the storage function.
Why these choices work
- Blush cabinetry keeps the utility space light.
- Dark counters provide a durable-looking visual boundary.
- Long pulls and mesh panels establish a repeated horizontal cadence.
What to watch
- Size slides and mounting for the fully loaded weight of broad produce drawers.
- Use liners and finishes appropriate for cleaning and food debris.
- Confirm that open drawers leave safe aisle clearance.
When another direction may work better
Closed drawers with internal ventilated baskets may be preferable when dust control or visual quiet is the priority.

The original inspiration

Inspired by a member of our design community.
What we admired
They designed broad ventilated drawers for visible produce storage and repeated long brass pulls across the run. The clear relationship between hardware, airflow, and daily use inspired a lighter interpretation.
