A 5-inch pull may have 3-inch center-to-center mounting, while another pull of a similar overall scale may use a different spacing. Knobs require one hole, but they still need a deliberate location. On doors, a knob is commonly placed near the opening edge and aligned with the rail or the visual center of the cabinet front.
