The first conversation establishes the intention. Each stage then resolves something different, so the appearance, the practical fit and the production plan can be considered together.

Describe the character of the project and the detail the catalog has not answered. References, sketches and constraints give the idea a useful starting point.
Resolve what it asks.
Review the shape, mounting, finish, quantity and budget. Agree the scope and any production or application questions before moving forward.
Give the idea form.
Agree the appropriate sample or prototype stage and its cost. Review appearance and practical fit before approving the production specification.
Make the agreed piece.
Confirm the approved details, quantities and delivery plan. Production follows the agreed specification and project terms.
