From understanding the room to leaving it complete, follow the decisions a specification must carry.
Read the project
Before choosing the hardware, understand the room: its drawings, dimensions, conditions, users, and unanswered questions.
Know the material
A finish is never just a color. Consider what lies beneath it, how it is made, where it will live, and how it will change.
Resolve the hardware
Settle the questions that determine whether a piece will truly work: size, grip, mounting, accessibility, clearances, and its relationship to the cabinetry.
Compose the elevation
The room should read as a whole. Establish where the hardware leads, where it repeats, and where it quietly recedes.
Put the decision on paper
A good specification leaves little room for interpretation. Record the product, size, finish, quantity, location, assumptions, and approvals while the decisions are still clear.

Release the order
Confirm what is needed, when it is needed, and what could still interrupt the plan. Then inspect the order while there is time to correct it.
Protect the design in the field
One approved installation is worth more than a room full of corrected holes. Test the position, confirm the method, and only then repeat it.
Leave the project complete
The final handover should preserve more than appearances. Leave behind the care guidance, spare pieces, and specification record the room may need later.
